April to June is the best time to visit Chandanwari. You can view the lush greenery in Chandanwari during this period. The summer season in Chandanwari is the time when the skies are clear and the days are warm. Temperatures hover between 11 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius. This is perfect weather for outdoor excursions and sightseeing in Chandanwari.

July to August is the Amarnath Yatra season in Chandanwari. There is a heavy rush of tourists to Chandanwari in these monsoon months. You must visit Chandanwari during this season, only if you are going on Amarnath Yatra. Otherwise, do not make any plans for Chandanwari during Amarnath Yatra.

Chandanwari – Base for Amarnath Yatra

This is a small town near Pahalgam in Kashmir. Chandanwari is the starting point or the base village for Amarnath Yatra. You will find many camps in Pahalgam and Chandanwari during the Amarnath Yatra season from July to August. Chandanwari is in a valley that offers majestic views of the Pir Panjal mountain range of the Himalayas.

From June onwards, pilgrims start to arrive in Chandanwari and this continues till the second week of August. Chandanwari is a scenic place with waterfalls, temples, river streams, and forests. Lidder River flows through Chandanwari and lends a scenic beauty to this place.

Other seasons to visit Chandanwari

Apart from the summer season and Amarnath Yatra season, you can visit Chandanwari from September to October. The trekking season in Chandanwari starts in August and lasts till September. The weather is pleasant and temperatures are ideal for trekking, camping, and sightseeing.

You can view the beautiful colors of nature as this is the onset of autumn and winter has not started yet. Days are warm but nights can be a bit chilly. We will advise you to wear warm clothing. From November, the winter starts to set in and snowfall happens in December, and it is heavy in January.

Do not visit Chandanwari, if you cannot endure the bitter cold and snow. Hotels and roads are also closed due to heavy snowfall so November to March is not a good time to visit Chandanwari.
