Temporary Guest Houses, Govt Circuit House during Mahakumbh 2025 at Prayagraj
Less than 100 days are remaining for the Mahakumbh 2025 at Prayagraj to begin. The government is expecting a tourist rush of around 40 crore people. In view of this enormous rush of people, the government has taken the initiative to construct additional accommodation for the tourists. This will be a first-of-a-kind move where the government is building temporary solutions for accommodating people.
Temporary Guest Houses
The Kumbh Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand announced that temporary guest houses and circuit houses will be developed in the mela areas to accommodate people. The process has started for this construction. 55 suites will be developed in the Arail area for VVIP guests and senior government officials. The VIP ghats will also be developed close to these.
Temporary Circuit Houses
Similarly, temporary circuit houses will be built in various sections of the mela area. These will have a capacity to accommodate 25,000 guests at a given time. These will have basic toilet and urinal facilities.
Paying Guest Scheme
The government has initiated a paying guest scheme in the urban areas. The best part of this scheme is that the common man can offer additional rooms to tourists as guest houses. This is an initiative of the state tourism department. According to a senior officer, Aparajita Singh, this will increase the accommodation facilities and promote self-employment. Locals can also join the government by offering their homes as guest houses for the guests. Training will be given to these locals about hospitality and cleanliness. 2000 homes will be offered licenses for three years. These will be listed on the administrative website of the Kumbh Mela so that pilgrims can have easy access.
Ganga Pandal and Convention Halls
A huge stage or pandal is being built known as Ganga Pandal, along with a Convention Hall. The capacity of this pandal and convention hall is estimated to be around 10,000 each. It will be constructed with the help of German hangars.
Safety at Bathing Ghats
Barricading and netting are being installed at the bathing ghats for the safety of pilgrims and devotees.
